Built of Living Stones: Art, Architecture and
Worship. This is the US Council of Bishop's words on
Art. I have singled out Chapter 3:
The Work of Our Hands: Art and Artists Assisting the Church at Prayer. - Now that you are inspired, go and create.
- If you have art that you have already prayerfully created please contact us with photos of your work and some insight into what inspired you to create each piece.
- We will then send you our artist agreement to display your work on this site because it is not enough that you create them, they need to be shared with as many Catholics as possible. Also, if we can create a vibrant marketplace for your sacred work our prayer is that it will enable you to create more.
This website is a start. It is a place where you can show these inspired pieces so that you will finally decide to listen to that inner calling and create them. We are artists too. Some of our work is here and some of our work will still be at galleries and art shows for sale to the rest of the world.
The pieces we create for this site are special. They are prayerfully created with love and a strong desire to lead others closer to our creator by catching a glimpse of His creation, or by bringing color and texture to His word.
This is only the beginning. In the near future we will be deciding on venues for Catholic Art Shows, potential gallery sites and other ways to put your work in front of people searching for Sacred Art.
What is Sacred Art?
Sacred
Art, Article 2502 From the
Catechism of the Catholic Church
.
"Sacred art is
true and beautiful when its form corresponds to its particular
vocation: evoking and glorifying, in faith and adoration, the
transcendent mystery of God - the surpassing invisible beauty of
truth and love visible in Christ, who ‘reflects the glory of God and
bears the very stamp of his nature,' in whom ‘the whole fullness of
deity dwells bodily.' This spiritual beauty of God is reflected in
the most holy Virgin Mother of God, the Angels and saints.
Genuine sacred art draws man to adoration, to prayer, and to the
love of God, Creator and Savior, the Holy One and Sanctifier."
As artists we are blessed. It is even more amazing and more of a blessing when you can create for the creator. God Bless you on your continued journey.
